Top 7 Ways To Use Your Brand Photos

Camera in hand

Brand photos are an investment.  You’ve made the decision to make that investment because you know how important brand photos are to growing of your business. But you might still wonder, how do I use professional brand photos to maximize returns on investment?

Don’t worry, I got your back. If you’re currently planning a brand photoshoot, talk to your photographer about where and how you intend to use your images. Knowing your plans will help ensure they capture the images you need. It will answer questions like which images should be taken in landscape vs. portrait? Should the composition be such that the image will look good after it’s cropped into a square? Do you need generous negative space to allow for text and other design considerations? Discussing these things before your session will help  tremendously in getting you images that are most useful to your specific circumstances.

In addition to creating a shot list with your photographer, don’t skip the other elements of preparing for your session like making sure you know your ideal client, choosing the right location, choosing the best outfits and appropriate props. All of these contribute to the message you want to send as you showcase who you are and make your business shine with brand photos.

Now, enough of my rambles on the importance of prep work, you can read more about that in this post. Here are some tried and true ways to use brand photos to represent your business:

  1. For your profile photos on all social media (Instagram, Facebook, Pinterest, etc.)
  2. As your Facebook banner/cover photo
  3. For Instagram, ideally, your top nine posts would have at least one brand photo in the mix.
  4. Sprinkle them throughout your regular social media feeds rather than posting them one after the other. Unless, of course, you have plenty of brand photos in your image library.
  5. As the main images on your website, especially your About page
  6. In your emails and newsletters
  7. Repurpose, repost, reuse them over time with new captions
